2 Point Slings
For some time we were working on a Convertible Sling Project - a multi use sling that combines the flexibility and maneuverability of a single point sling with the stability and security of a 2 point sling... There were many ways to do it (snap hooks, fastex buckles, D rings, alligator clips) but none that we felt comfortable with or were proud of. Then the Quick-Disconnect Triglide (aka QD Triglide) came along and made the Convertible Sling Project successful.
There were some other requirements we placed on ourselves and the product:
With so many weapon manufacturers now including the QD receivers (or "holes") in their rail systems it seemed that the connector for the front of the sling needed to be the QD swivel connector. With the popularity, durability and convenience of our sling mounts, connecting the rear of the sling was an easy decision to make; and throw in the QD Triglide and viola, tactical sling nirvana.
The Convertible Slings are available in a bungee version and a non-bungee version and are designed for the M4 / AR15 and the SCAR rifles.
- There could be no tail or excessive webbing to get caught or snagged on things (door ways, furniture, other gear, etc.).
- It had to be just as useable in single-point mode and 2-point mode without needing to adjust the length.
- The hardware used had to be reliable (no brittle/weak casting pieces).
- The sling had to have the same width of webbing throughout to eliminate snags or catching on gear.
- The hardware used had to be easy to connect and disconnect. Even though we love the MASH hook it was ruled out due to the fact that it wasn't as easy to connect and disconnect. Snap hooks were ruled out too simply due to their inherent faults (gates opening, bending, etc.).
- The sling had to be able to "convert" from one mode to the other in less than 2 seconds.
- We wanted to use as little plastic hardware as possible because their break point is substantially less than nylon webbing. Doing this allowed us to keep the sling incredibly strong, durable and reliable.

We make a handful of Convertible Slings so let's discuss the differences... Here is the list:
Convertible QD Tactical Sling For AR15 Style Rifles (same as Convertible QD Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles)
Convertible Bungee QD Tactical Sling For AR15 Style Rifles (same as Convertible Bungee QD Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles)
Convertible Mash Hook Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles
Convertible Bungee QD Tactical Sling For AR15 Style Rifles (same as Convertible Bungee QD Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles)
Convertible Mash Hook Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles
We'll start off with the Convertible QD Tactical Sling For AR15 Style Rifles. This convertible sling includes 2 swivel connectors (one at each end) plus our QD Triglide. The Convertible Bungee QD Tactical Sling For AR15 Style Rifles includes all the same hardware but has 2 sections of elastic/bungee in it.
The Convertible Mash Hook Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles includes 1 swivel connector (at the front of the sling), 1 mash hook (at the rear of the sling), a mash hook sleeve, and our QD Triglide. The Convertible Bungee Mash Hook Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles includes all the same hardware but has 2 sections of elastic/bungee in it.
Everything clear so far? Not quite. No problem. Let's explain further...
If you have an AR style rifle (for this example we'll use a stereotypical AR15 with a picatinny rail) you would need a QD style sling mount at the front of the weapon (i.e. our Picatinny Rail Sling Mount) and a QD style sling mount at the rear of the weapon (i.e. our Z-360 Sling Mount), you could chose from either the Convertible QD Tactical Sling For AR15 Style Rifles or the Convertible Bungee QD Tactical Sling For AR15 Style Rifles. Keep in mind the bungee model best fits those with 44" (or larger) chests.
If you have a SCAR rifle with QD sling mounts at the front (i.e. our Picatinny Rail Sling Mount) and rear (i.e. the Kinetic Development Group Rear / Single Point QD Sling Mount For SCAR Rifles) of the weapon, you could chose from either the Convertible QD Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles or the Convertible Bungee QD Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles. Keep in mind the bungee model best fits those with 44" (or larger) chests.
However, if you have a SCAR rifle without any QD sling mount at the front of the weapon and are using the manufacturer's OEM sling mount at the rear of the weapon, you will need to install a QD sling mount (i.e. our Picatinny Rail Sling Mount or the Kinetic Development Group Front / 2 Point Ambi QD Sling Mount For SCAR Rifles) at the front of the weapon. With your SCAR in this configuration you could chose from either the Convertible Mash Hook Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles or the Convertible Bungee Mash Hook Tactical Sling For SCAR Rifles. Keep in mind the bungee model best fits those with 44" (or larger) chests.
