Q: Will the AXTS Raptor Charging Handle fit my AR patterned .308 (aka AR-10)?
A: We are asked this question often, and unfortunately, the answer is maybe. Unlike its smaller counterpart (the AR15 / M16 / M4), the AR-10 was never fully adopted by the U.S. Armed Forces, and therefore, did not benefit from the standardization of parts that the AR15 / M16 / M4 has received. As a result, the AR patterned .308 has evolved into several variations, many of which do not share the part interchangeability that you see with the AR-15 platform, causing potential headaches when selecting parts for your AR-10. The AXTS Raptor Charging Handle was designed to work in conjunction with the two main .308 AR based platforms: the Armalite AR10 pattern and the Knight's Armament SR25 pattern. Since DPMS based their LR-308 series on the SR25 pattern the Raptor is compatible with that line of rifles as well. Unfortunately, due to the wide variances and tolerances on other platforms, AXTS does not guarantee that the Raptor Charging Handle will operate correctly in any other .308 AR pattern besides that of the Armalite AR10 pattern and the Knight's Armament SR25 pattern. AXTS Raptor Charging Handle is not compatible with SIG716, Colt LE901, HK 7.62 models, or the DPMS Gen2 rifles.
