JP Rifles Stainless Steel Low Mass Operating System Bolt Carrier Group For AR15 Style 5.56 / .223 Rifles

The complete JP Bolt Carrier Group is only part of the renowned JP LMOS (Low Mass Operating System) and consists of the:
- JP Low Mass Carrier
- JP Enhanced Bolt with cam pin, firing pin and firing pin retainer (more details below)

For decades, JP Rifles engineered and tuned their operating system to the point that they have become a pioneer and a leader in the competition rifle arena. They have perfected the gas impingement operating system. For the no-compromise competition rifle, the LMOS offers the most significant improvement in the felt impulse of the rifle as compared to any modification other than the addition of a compensator. The complete system consists of their low mass bolt carrier and lightweight buffer conversion kit (sold separately). By reducing the reciprocating mass, the overall impulse as felt by the shooter is further reduced, and bolt velocity is increased without significantly affecting reliability. JP LMOS equipped rifles have virtually no reciprocating mass feel.

Reliability with these parts is excellent for competition use. Members of the JP Shooting Team have been using this system for three years without a malfunction at a match. Most shooters that use and maintain this operating system feel that it is a great performance improvement. Some shooters have even reported fewer unexplained flyers in their groups with the JP LMOS system.

Because it does not have the forward assist serrations, JP Low Mass Carriers are often sought by those with upper receivers without forward assists, and even though they do not have the forward assist serrations, they function perfectly in military type receivers - they just will not allow the use of forward assist on the upper receiver. Dust cover functions normally.

JP LMOS Bolt Carrier
You may be wondering why the stainless carriers appear black. This is due to a new state of the art surface finish for stainless called Melonite or QPQ (Quench, Polish, Quench). This is a specialized type of nitrocarburizing case hardening that increases:
- corrosion resistance
- wear resistance
- lubricity
- fatigue strength

Some want the look of the bright polished and others want a black bolt carrier. We offer the JP LMOS Complete Bolt Carrier in both finishes - Polished Stainless Steel and Melonited Polished Stainless Steel (black).

JP Enhanced 9310 Bolt Assembly
The JP LMOS Complete Bolt Carrier Group includes the JP Enhanced 9310 Bolt Assembly with standard extractor. The standard Mil-spec C-158 (Carpenter 158) bolt has a number of factors limiting its performance, not the least of which is that the life expectancy of such bolts is only about 6,000 rounds. In fact, standard bolts will start to show stress cracks on the locking lugs adjacent to the extractor cut after only 3,000 rounds. Cracking at the cam pin hole and weak extractor spring tension only add to the problems of the Mil-spec bolt. The material used in these standard bolts is also not the best choice by today's standards, but if you remember the old story that explains why mil spec never dies that applies here as well; they make them this way because they have always made them this way.

The latest edition JP Enhanced Bolt is made from SAE 9310 high-grade steel. This material makes for an extremely hard surface with a tough, ductile core resistant to structural failure and a life expectancy far exceeding Mil-spec C-158 bolts. SAE 9310 is the same type of steel used in the transmission gears of Formula One race cars, and the high-load application of a bolt assembly is ideal for this state-of-the-art material; the results of actual full-auto endurance torture tests prove it.

The design of the JP Enhanced Bolt addresses many other fine points, the most important of which is the utilization of a standard configuration extractor. Most users want the ability to replace extractors and other parts with commonly available mil-spec parts instead of being dependent on proprietary parts that can be difficult to acquire. Therefore, the latest edition of the JP Enhanced Bolt accepts standard extractors, pins and springs.
